Women's Institute

On Wednesday 11th.June, we learnt that the WI is celebrating their 100th year and that the WI in Marston has been running for 90 years. We also learnt what these wonderful ladies do.Some of us thought that our Grandmas were members.

In the morning we went outside onto the playground and saw a lady bring the baton into Marston on a bike. She and all the WI ladies were wearing clothes from the old days.

We went over the road to the pub garden and looked at all the stalls that the WI had prepared. We looked at all the displays and learnt more about the history of the WI.

We took it in turns to wash clothes like they did in the old days, in a tub with a dolly stick. We liked wringing the clothes through the mangle.

The ladies had made and iced cakes for us YUM, YUM! The washing and the cakes were our favourite!

Then we waved the baton off as it left Marston, in an old car for the next village.

Thank you for a lovely time, all the ladies of the WI. Congratulations and keep up the good work!
