Trip to Little Jack's Farm and Garden Centre

What a welcome we got at Little Jacks, with lovely cold juice on such a warm day, as well as healthy snacks and biscuits! Miss. Deane came with us.

 

 

 

 

First we had a play in the adventure playground.

 

 

 

 

Then we looked at all the plants in the garden centre and planted our own sunflower seeds with Martin.

 

 

 

 

After that we had lunch. Some of us chose to sit inside, some outside under the shadecloth.

 

 

 

 

Next we fed the animals with Lee and saw Little Jack the pony after who the farm is named.

 

 

 

Finally we bought an icecream or a toy. Some of us managed to do both!

 

 

What a great day we had!! Thank you to all the staff at Little Jacks!

Enterprise Week

For Enterprise Week, Class 1:

• baked plain, lemon and lavender shortbread and lemon and orange drizzle tray bakes, made our own labels and sold them.

• planted and grew bean seedlings and bellis daisies and sold them.

• brought in second hand toys, made our own posters and sold them.

• made beautiful bookmarks with our names on for our Mums and Dads, Grans and Grandads to treasure.

We made £140 and enjoyed ourselves! We're thinking what we should spend it on.....

Chicks

 

Mrs.Marshall suggested we have chicks again, so .....

 

Tuesday 21 April 2015

 

Joe from Rand Farm park brought us 7 eggs from a farm nearby. He put them in an incubator.

 

 

 

 

Tuesday 5 May

 

2 weeks later Joe came back to candle the eggs, so to check if there were chicks inside. He left us the 5 that did.

 

 Tuesday 12 May

 

We could hear the chicks cheeping inside the eggs. The first chick used its egg tooth to break through the shell and make the first hole.

 



Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 were hatch days. The second chick worked hard to make a huge crack.

"Let's see, let's see!!" Everyone so excited....


When the chicks were dry we put the chicks in a box with the brooder to keep them warm.

The chicks are a French breed.

Joe collected the chicks to take them back to the farm. We all felt very sad. We miss them and their cheeping.

 

We must do this again next year......
